Just in time for Veterans Day, Military Times, the publisher of Army Times, Marine Corp Times, Navy Times and Air Force Times, has launched Military Waypoint, a new travel community site that makes it easy for veterans and current members of the military and their families to discover and share travel ideas, and along with it a travel contest where they’ll be giving away three 7-day cruises valued at $5,000 each.
Few careers require as much travel as the military, which is why this new site addresses a pressing need among military service members as they relocate their families to new bases and seek information sources to explore their new surrounding. Since much of this travel is by car, we thought it appropriate to highlight the site on Cost2Drive, especially as so many members of the military use our Galculator™ application (fuel cost calculator) to budget for Temporary Duty Travel (TDY) and Permanent Change of Station (PSC).
Beautifully Designed, Mobile Optimized
The new site is laid out in a beautiful design that resizes elegantly for mobile devices, making it super easy to use whether you’re on a desktop, smartphone or tablet. Members of the community, who need to verify their own (or their family member’s) military status to register for the site, will find it easy to contribute to the community by submitting travel ideas along with photos. Other community members can then comment on the idea, save it to their profile and vote up their favorite ideas. The site also provides maps so you can see the locations of the ideas, and makes it easy to share them in social media through services like Facebook and Twitter.
Submit Travel Ideas, Win a Free Cruise
The launch of the Military Waypoint travel community coincides with a travel contest in which three exciting Caribbean cruises will be awarded to the three community members who submit the best travel ideas. The idea submissions will be judged based on the originality of the idea, the quality of the photos and the usefulness to other members of the community.
You can learn more about the travel contest at www.militarytimes.com/travelcontest.
If you’re a veteran, on active duty or a family member of someone who is you should check out this exciting new travel community and join up as a founding member to share your tips, insights and ideas before December 25th for a chance to win one of the three cruises.
Thanks to all of our veterans and active duty service members of the military for all your efforts and sacrifices on our behalf on this Veterans Day.
