Last year National Geographic Traveler magazine ran a great feature called Drives of a Lifetime. It consisted of 50 amazing road trip itineraries from across the globe (though the large majority are in North America). We thought it would be fun to plot these road trip itineraries in Google Maps using the MyMaps application so anyone on the Web could view them and download them for their personal use. Now, a year later we take a look back to see if anyone has been viewing them and are excited to learn they’ve been viewed over 10,000 times! So which ones have been viewed the most?
At the top of the list is the Amalfi Coast in Italy, not surprising to anyone that’s seen the spectacular views from the drive along the cliffs overlooking the Salerno coastline along the Mediterranean Sea. To date this road trip has been viewed nearly 1,400 times which is double the amount of the second place itinerary of New Zealand’s North Island. What’s interesting is that only 7 of the 50 itineraries are outside of the North America and yet 4 of them made the top 10 list (the Cornish Coast in the UK and Provence in France were the other two in the top 10).
